I waited patiently on the LORD...

The Word of the Lord says in Psalm 40:1-2, “I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, of the mud and the mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” In the seasons of waiting, sometimes the fear, anxiety, hurt, and doubt make us feel like we are drowning in quick sand without any foundation. We are paralyzed with so many unanswered questions, words left unsaid and uncertain circumstances. If we continue to fight in our own strength, we are left frustrated and weak from sinking in our own flood of problems. It is not until we can surrender our control and doubts unto the Lord that He can set us on solid ground and orchestrates our struggles into a greater story. However, all too many times, we begin to question God’s ways saying to ourselves, “Why is God withholding this from me? Why am I not getting a clear answer?” However, those same questions we must ask ourselves, “What are we withholding from God? Are we truly waiting on the Lord or leaning on our own understanding?” There is no instance in which we deserve to know all of God’s plans for our life, because if we knew everything then what would there be left to hope for? Hope comes through faith and true faith comes through Jesus Christ. That is why we put our hope in Him, knowing that in due time He will come through and show us the right way.
Personally, to me, waiting on the Lord is like witnessing the sunrise. Before you can witness the coming of a new dawn, you must first get through the bleak night. All your surroundings are lost in the shadows of the night as you wait for that first glimpse of light. Then all at once, all darkness is melted away with the stroke of light that shoots across the sky. The night has now come and gone with only luminous light left in its place. Although at times the night can seem bleaker than the day, it is through the struggles that we find faith. This is true because not many people would think of the amount of faith it takes to witness a sunrise. It takes an act of faith to realize that not by man can the sun rise but only by believing in God’s plan that in time it will rise. The Word of the Lord says in Psalm 42:5,8, “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in GOD, for I will yet praise HIM. My Savior and my God… By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me-a prayer to the GOD of my life.” This very promise comforts anyone who is in the process of waiting on the Lord. The truth is, just as we have faith that the sun will rise in the morning, we shall also believe that there is always promise in the waiting. Although this season of waiting can be bleak like the night, know that there is a brighter future ahead of you. Do not let past memories of yesterday and uncertain plans of the day keep your soul from hoping on. Keep the faith in God and believe in His truth that will quiet all uncertainty in the heart. Praise the LORD for giving us the light by which we see so that way may be able to see the sunrise in our dark nights.

Sometimes we want to move, but God wants us to stand still in trusting HIM.

I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, of the mud and the mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our GOD. Many will see, fear, and put their trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:1-3.

“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in GOD, for I will yet praise HIM. My Savior and my God… By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me-a prayer to the GOD of my life.” Psalm 42:5, 8

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear for I AM with you; do not be dismayed, for I AM your GOD. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your GOD will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

‘I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."’ Lamentations 3:24

Be Blessed in knowing that time is a blessing, not a curse. :)
